Leroy R. `Whitey` Pherigo, age 62, of Watkins died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at his home.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Alano Club, Cold Spring with Larry Sell officiating. The honorary pallbearers will be Lance Smallwood, Michael Reikofski, Rick Reikofski, and all of his Alcoholics Anonymous friends.
Leroy Richard `Whitey` Pherigo was born March 24, 1942 in Litchfield to Lee and Vera (Brunko) Pherigo. He graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1960 and then served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years including during the Viet Nam War. He had various jobs mostly doing masonry work. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven and was a 19-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
He is survived by children, Jolene (Larry) Kosark of Sadler, TX, Brian Pherigo of Sherman, TX, Deika Delmar of San Diego, CA, Christina (Ben III) Gainer of Columbus, OH, Leroy Pherigo II of Columbus, OH; sisters, Mary (Keith) Estes of Falls City, NE, Joann (Gary) Reikofski of Watkins; aunt, Esther Brunko of Watkins; uncle, Alfred (Myrtle) Pherigo of Litchfield; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. His parents and daughter, Brenda Jo preceded him in death.
