Leroy W. Lofgren, age 82, of South Haven died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Dassel Lakeside Community Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Burial will follow in the Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church.
Leroy William Lofgren was born November 30, 1925 in Minneapolis to William and Emma (Norman) Lofgren. On May 26, 1940 he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethel Lutheran Church. He was a 1943 graduate of Minneapolis North High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War being honorably discharged on November 19, 1951. He married Luella Blumke Kell on August 10, 1967 at Golden Valley Lutheran Church. He was an over the road trucker working for various trucking companies including United Buckingham and Consolidated Freightways, retiring in 1987. He was a former member of Westfhal American Legion of Robbinsdale and the Fair Haven Lions Club. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Kimball American Legion, and Teamsters Union Local 544.
He is survived by his wife, Luella of South Haven. He was divorced from his first wife Joyce in 1964 and is survived by three children from that union, Alaine Jablonski, Amburnette Smith and Dana Lofgren; also survived by sister Oriet Sowl, niece Barbara Lemond, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Ruth Fry will be the organist and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
