Obituary
Leona B. Rose, age 84, of South Haven died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her home in Fair Haven Township.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church or St. Cloud Hospital Hospice.
Leona Bertha Rose was born December 26, 1927 to Henry and Elsa (Schwartz) Gehrke in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County where she lived her entire lifetime. She married George E. Rose on June 4, 1947 at Concordia Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2000. Leona was a homemaker and devoted farm wife. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Prayer Chain, and Care Card Group. She was a Foster Grandmother at the Watkins School and enjoyed quilting, needle work, traveling, and card playing.
She is survived by her four children & their spouses Leroy & Linda Rose of South Haven, Darlene & Ronald Saukkola of Kimball, Leslie & Barb Rose of South Haven, Marlys Loch of Cold Spring, sisters Ella Leanhart of Clearwater, Erma Beck of Clear Lake, Dorothy (Walter) Burton of Rice, 8 grandchildren Daniel (Ronnie) Rose, Duane Rose, Blaine (Erin) Saukkola, Amy (Jason) DeWenter, Nicholas Loch, Bradley Loch, Christopher Rose & Michael Rose, 7 great grandchildren Melody, Alexis, Anna, Emily, Haylie, Gracelyn & Jaelynn. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, and brothers Vernon & Alfred Gehrke.
The pallbearers will be her grandchildren, the music will be provided by Laura Thurk and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care.
