Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Ertel, age 59, of Maple Lake died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at his home, the Maple Manor.

Service of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Maple Lake. Rev. Steven King will officiate and burial will be in Maple Lake Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Peter Martinson officiating.

Larry Ertel was born March 13, 1950 in St. Cloud to Harry and Agnes (Veches) Ertel. He attended Maple Lake High School. Over the years, Larry worked for Cenex of Maple Lake, farmed in Maple Lake and worked at Sunny Fresh in Monticello. He was a member of the Hasty-Silver Creek Sportsman Club, Capable Partners and Treasurer of the Citizens Club. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking and socializing.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Kelly Wurm of Maple Lake; son, Kyle (Theresa) of Maple Lake; grandchildren, Macy, Allie and Carter; brothers, Robert (Ramona) of Pittsburgh, PA, Eugene (Shirley) of Monticello and Wayne (Shirley) of St. Louis Park; sister, Mary (Thomas) Kohmetscher of Albertville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Agnes Ertel; Grandparents, Stephen & Jane Ertel and Tony & Margaret Veches.

Pallbearers will be Mike Ertel, Destin Ertel, Greg Helmbrecht, Bill Helmbrecht, Bob Kohmetscher and Tony Veches. Marlene Mohwinkel will provide the music for the service and the arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
