Lanny K. Wadman, age 62 of Annandale died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale. Rev. D.J. Lura will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, both at the church. A prayer service and Time of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening.
Lanny Kay Wadman was born January 17, 1947 to Ray and Esther (Ruud) Wadman at his home in Annandale. He graduated from Annandale High School, Class of 1965 and later graduated from St. Paul Technical College. Lanny served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marine Corp. On December 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to Joyce Rhoe. Together, they lived in Wayzata and Buffalo, before settling in Annandale. Lanny worked as a sprinkler fitter for Independent Fire Protection in Coon Rapids and Brother's Fire Protection in Elk River before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Sprinkler Fitter Local 417 and was a DNR volunteer for 29 years. Lanny was also active in St. John's Lutheran Church, where he has served on the church council and property committee and volunteered at the church by mowing the lawn and ushering. Lanny enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, reading and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was known for his love to laugh and his joy in helping others.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce; three children, Peter (Larissa) of Annandale, Steven of Minnetonka and Erin of Plymouth; grandchildren, Ashley, Brett, Jakob, Matthew and Anna; brothers and sisters, Donald (Janith) of Cloquet, Marilyn Lundquist of Williams, OR, Marlys (Charles) Zelenak of Brainerd, Gene (Eleanor) of Maple Lake, Dennis (Sharon) of Coon Rapids, Mary (Ronald) Meyer of Maple Plain, Carol (Robert) Muller of Annandale, Patricia (Jerome) Hoikka of Hutchinson, Larry (Christine) of Annandale, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Pat and Barb Provo, George and Cate Kraemer, Blaine and Diane Barkley, Frank and Sara Forsberg. Ellen Thomes, Ashley Wadman and Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
