Kenneth J. Dorman, age 87, formerly of South Haven died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at his residence in Kimball.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church, 71580 CSAH 27, Kimball with Pastor Orval Wirkkala officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at the Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday.
Kenneth James Dorman was born September 28, 1924 at Bertha to Elmer and Esther (Kline) Dorman. During WW II he was a member of the U.S. Army serving in the South Pacific. He married Doris Huro on April 5, 1946 in Minneapolis and was an operating engineer for 40 years working most of this time for Park Construction of Minneapolis. Ken was a member of the Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49, and was a Life member of the South Haven VFW Post 7332. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and reading; especially Louis L'Amour western books.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Doris of Kimball, children & spouses Patricia & David Schauer of Kingston, Kevin & Rita Dorman of Albany, sister Iona Funk of Chisago City, 9 grandchildren Heather Walberg, Brandon, Damian & Bryce Schauer, Dayna Koehn, Kenny D. & Amanda Dorman, Stefanie Belschner, and Crystal Eaton, also 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dean, brothers Vernon, Garfield, Leslie, & Claren, and sisters Vivian Lennox & Doris Larson.
The pallbearers will be Ed Schaaf, Robert Salmela, Jeremiah Larson, Loren Wanhala, Brian Lennox, & Roger Funk and the honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
