Julia Barkley, age 81, of Annandale died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at the Benedictine Health Care Center, Minneapolis.
Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005 at St. John`s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. David Doppenberg and Deacon Mark Pedersen officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale.
Julia Caroline Graham Barkley was born May 26, 1924 in Colome, SD to Sandy and Gertrude (Smalley) Graham. She married Dayton A. Barkley in March of 1943 and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1978. Julia was an interior designer & artist and along with her husband owned & operated Dayton`s Furniture Store, Annandale from 1949-1978. She was a member of St. Mark`s Corinna Episcopal Church, the Red Hat Society, and was a board member of Minnesota Pioneer Park. She was a former member of the Governor`s Residence Council, Annandale Housing & Redevelopment Authority, and lifetime member of Annandale Improvement Club.
She is survived by four children & their spouses, Dayton & Nancy of Plymouth, Blaine & Diane of Annandale, Dean & Sue of Plymouth, Mary Barkley Brown & Sheldon Brown of Maple Lake; sister, Mary (Mark) Pedersen of Grinnell, IA; 14 grandchildren, Kate, Anne, Melissa, Susan, Kim, Darren, Allison, Emily, Tim, Garrett, Brooke, Matthew, Andrew & Graham; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Bruce Allen; infant sister, Jeanette; and sister, Elizabeth Winger.
The pallbearers will be grandchildren; Kim, Darren, Allison, Emily, Garrett, Brooke, Matthew, Andrew & Graham. The music for the service will be provided by Melissa Barkley, Zane Schaefer, Joe Thomas and Kurt Johnson.
The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
