Obituary

Josue C. Valencia, age 47, of Bais City, Negros Oriental, Philippines died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Silliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at San Nicholas of Tolentino Catholic Church in Bais City with his brother, Father Victor Valencia officiating.  Burial will follow at Serenity Garden Memorial Park in Tanjay City.

Josue Cortez Valencia was born December 28, 1963 in Tanjay City to Victor Sr. and Virginia (Cortez) Valencia.  He graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy and college from Silliman University with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration, major in Management.  Josue married Marilee Singco on October 31, 1998 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dumaguete City.  He was employed by Negros Oriental Planters Association in Bais City and was a member of Saint Nicholas of Tolentino Catholic Church.

He was an active member of the Board of Directors for the San Julio Farm Workers' Cooperative. He loved watching Discovery Channel, Food Network, HBO, Animal Planet and TLC.  He also loved to collect toy cars. He was good at fixing minor household problems. He was a good math and science tutor.

He is survived by his wife Marilee, four children Anton, Anna Zillah, Joanna & Abigail, all of Bais City, four brothers Leo (Cecil) of McAllen, Texas, USA, Father Victor of Annandale, Minnesota, USA, Basilides (Mary Lee) of Maranding, Lanao Del Norte, Philippines, Eliezer (Fatima) of Bais City, half sister Aster Gooyit of Canlaon City, Philippines, also several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives & friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Sr. & Virginia and grandparents, Roman & Pacencia Valencia and Juanito & Nicolasa Cortez.

The pallbearers will be George Amorganda, Jr., Jaime Yhan, Evencia Saycon, Winston Grapa, David Cortez, Jr. and Ramonito Cortez.  The music for the service will be provided by the Negros Oriental State University "Kabilin" Choir.
