Joann Erickson, age 73 of Rockford died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Minneapolis after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Fr. Michael Izen will officiate and burial will be in St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and from 1:30-2:15 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Josephine Ann Erickson was born May 11, 1935 in Jackson to Joseph and Albina (Tusa) Bares. She married Gerald Erickson at the Little Brown Church of the Vale in Nashua, IA. Joann was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake and the Community Bible Study in Buffalo. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting recipes and spending time with her great nieces and nephews.
Joann is survived by her companion, Emmett Steffens of Rockford; brother, Joe & Barb Bares of Buffalo; nieces and nephews, Donna & Tim Erickson of Albertville, Jay & Kelly Bares of Buffalo and Kathy & Adam Kliewer of Delano; 8 great nieces and great nephews; and 3 great great nieces and great great nephews. Her parents and husband precede her in death.
Jay Bares will serve as the urn bearer. The Resurrection Choir and Marge Pavlik, organist, will provide the music. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
