Obituary

John Jay Kuledge, age 61, of Maple Lake, died Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with an 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, Maple Lake.

John Jay Kuledge was born on November 15, 1964, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota to John and Joan (Nethercutt) Kuledge. John was baptized, confirmed and attended elementary school at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Crystal.

After graduating from Cooper High School, John pursued an education in construction from Dunwoody Institute. His passion for the craft led him to a successful career as a floor layer, spanning 26 years, during which he became a licensed master contractor and founded his own business, J.K. Construction, that thrived for a decade. John's hard work and determination were demonstrated through his involvement in the floor layers and construction unions.

On August 13, 1988, John married Deana Schluter at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, a union that was later blessed at St. Timothy's in Maple Lake by Deacon Ron Freeman.

John spent his Sundays in the fall either watching Vikings games with Deana or attending games with his dear friend, Cindy Cronin. John looked forward to his annual trips to Mexico and spending time tinkering in his garage, where he could often be found "keeping his motor running." He also loved time at the family cabin on Fox Lake, ice fishing in the winter and boating in the summer, often with his friend Dale Cronin. John's friendships meant a great deal to him, especially the time he spent with longtime friend and neighbor, Chris Bryntenson.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deana of Maple Lake; children, Tiffany (Matthew) Schneider of Buffalo, Amber (Mike) Hoglund of Topeka, KS, and Michael Kuledge of Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Georgia, Silas, and Lane Schneider, and Hunter, Miles, and Hannah Hoglund; siblings, Jill (Dale) Scholz and Janice Dubois; and sister-in-law, Andrea (Arnold) Roers; and nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents.

Matthew Schneider, Mike Hoglund, Michael Kuledge, Silas Schneider, Hunter Hoglund, and Miles Hoglund will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
