John Harlow Hill was born in St. Louis Park to George and Gertrude Hill. He grew up in St. Louis Park and Annandale, graduating with the Class of 1959 from Benilde-St. Margaret's School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a mortician in the metro area, prior to moving to Park Rapids to work as a Realtor. He moved back to Annandale; living in a number of different homes, all on the shores of Clearwater Lake. He worked in sales at Lagerquist Elevator and as an excavator and dump truck driver. He then became an owner/operator of Double J Trucking along with his partner in business and in life, Jeanne Dykhuizen. John enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing, driving, fixing vehicles, and spending winters in Texas. He referred to himself as a jack of all trades, and a master of none.
John is survived by his children, Lisa (Paul) Harer of Baldwin, WI, and Pat (Eva) Hill of Annandale; grandchildren, Tyler and Olivia Harer, and MJ and Jackson Hill; companion, Karen Sommers; and cousin, Kathleen York. He was preceded in death by his life partner, Jeanne Dykhuizen.
