John E. Burnett, age 92, of Kimball and formerly of Moorhead, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Heritage House of Kimball.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Kimball Church of Christ.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Moorhead at a later date.  Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

John Edward Burnett was born February 1, 1922 in Nortonville, ND to Frederick and Louisa (Hollingsworth) Burnett.  He graduated with the Class of 1940 from Jamestown High School in Jamestown, ND and went on to receive a degree from the Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND.  On August 9, 1942, John was united in marriage to Genevieve Nordstrom at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  John worked as a Prudential Insurance salesman, an office manager for Richtman Office Supply and Ridley's Office Supply and retired as the business manager at Crossroads College in Rochester.  He was an ordained minister, serving as Treasurer for Shoreham Chapel in Detroit Lakes; he also served as the interim preacher and performed weddings at the Chapel.  John was a member of the Valley Christian Church in Moorhead and a past member of the Lions Club and the American Legion.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, doing cross word puzzles and spending time at the lake with his family.

John is survived by his daughters Judy Lord of Eden Prairie and Joyce (Jerry) Albert of Kimball; son John (Gina) Burnett of Highlands Ranch, CO; 5 grandchildren Rhonda Fode, Jodi Stritesky, Jennifer Volk, Jon Albert and Sarah Sanchez; 2 step grandchildren Keith Juszczyk and Anthony Juszczyk; and 16 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Louisa; wife Genevieve; brother Harold; sisters Edith Burnett, Doris Steele, Gladys Laffen and Alice Laffen.

Pastor Jon Albert, Pastor Gerald Volk and Pastor Kevin White will officiate at the Memorial Service.  Lori Miller and Nolan Volk will provide the music for the service.  Military Honors will be provided by the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
