Joan Mary Jorgenson was born March 6, 1935 in Hutchinson to Herbert and Ella (Dallman) Filk. She grew up in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School with the Class of 1953. On September 25, 1954, Joan was united in marriage to Michael Maurice Jorgenson in Glencoe. Joan established the Gift Gallery in Foley in 1978, before returning to Annandale in 1983, where she opened Joan's award winning Gold Crown Hallmark store and was recognized as a top performing business owner during her 18 years. In 1964, she joined the Annandale Improvement Club. She was a founding member of the July 4th kiddy parade, and co-founded a Bridge Club where she was an active member for 50 years. Joan enjoyed living on Clearwater Lake, feeding the birds and the wildlife that frequented their picturesque lake home. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, gardening, traveling, playing bridge and cribbage. Her greatest joy was her family and the times spent together at the lake with her seven children, twelve grand children and four great grandchildren enjoying pontoon rides, swimming, fishing off the dock, shuffle board tournaments and nightly bon fires.
Joan is survived by her husband Michael; children Nancy (Stewart) Lallman of Omaha, NE, Mary (Jim) Spicka of Boise, ID, Peter Jorgenson (partner Jim King) of South Haven, Anne (Bob) MacLean of Duluth, Patrick (Sharon) Jorgenson of Fruitland, ID, Kathleen Jorgenson of Sartell and Sara Jorgenson of Sauk Rapids; sisters Judith Babbitt of Portland, OR, Catherine Haase of Excelsior, MN, and Elizabeth (Mark) Fleming of Milwaukee, WI; sister-in-law Marian Filk of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
