Jeanette D. Sollitt, age 93, of Kimball passed peacefully Monday, February 24, 2014 with family at her side.
Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., assembly area 4. The Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad will provide the military honors. There will be a Memorial Celebration following at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
Jeanette Devon Sollitt was born August 5, 1920 in Minneapolis to Stanley and Clara (Farnum) Sollitt. She graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis with the Class of 1938. During World War II, Jeanette served in the U.S. Army among the first in the WACs. After her service, she furthered her education with a degree from the Minneapolis Business College. She worked as a Voucher Clerk for over 20 years for the Veterans Administration in Minneapolis. Jeanette lived in Bloomington until moving to Round Rock, TX in 1979 and in 2005 she moved back to Minnesota and took up residence in Kimball. She was a member of the Kimball American Legion and the Minnesota Arboretum. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. Jeanette had a love for animals; she was even a part of starting a Humane Society while she lived in Texas.
Jeanette is survived by her nieces and nephews Linda (Wayne) Roth, Christine Loiselle, James (Jane) Lindstrom, Janene (Darwin) Johnson, Charlene (Robert) Heryla, Greg (Jane) Cacas and Bonnie (Bob) Williams; neice-in-law Carol Riste; and many great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Evelyn Riste, Doris Cacas and LaVoune Lindstrom; brothers-in-law Ed Riste, George Cacas and Ernest Lindstrom; and nephews Clayton Cacas and Ronald Riste.
A special Thanks to the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice Team and Volunteers, and special friend Anita Hoefer for making her final days as comfortable as possible.
