Jay E. Norlin, age 64, of Maple Lake and formerly of Osseo died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his home after a triumphant battle with cancer and is now in the loving arms of Our Savior.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Burial will be in East Maple Lake Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
Jay Edward Norlin was born July 25, 1943 in Minneapolis to Floyd and Evelyn (Coe) Norlin. He married Kathleen Seviola on June 12, 1965 in Minneapolis. Jay provided 31 years of loyal and courageous service as a Minneapolis Firefighter. Jay was loved by all who knew him and will be missed for his sense of humor and his loving, caring and gentle manner.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Kathleen of Maple Lake; beloved daughter, Tina (Chris) Pavloff of Buffalo; beloved son Joe (Covin) of Farmington; grandchildren and joys of his life, Bennett Jay, Zachary, Chloe, Isaiah and Gracie; mother, Evelyn of Litchfield; sister, Jan (Ray) Harrison of Coon Rapids; brothers, Karl (Susan) of Albuquerque, NM, Jon (Gretchen) of Cross Lake and Jeff (Jackie) of Litchfield; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Norlin; father-in-law, Albert and mother-in-law, Francis.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Jeff and David Soderholm, Marty, Nik and Erik Norlin. Ben Norlin will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
