James R. Zipf, age 79, of St. Cloud formerly of South Haven died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Benedict's Center, St. Cloud.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Memorial Services held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Pastor Luke Nelson officiating. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

James Russell Zipf was born September 10, 1931 at Hutchinson to Oscar and Martha (Fraske) Zipf. He married Marjorie Ess on March 2, 1959 in Hudson, WI and they lived in Chaska prior to living on Lake August near South Haven from 1987-2008. Jim worked for forty years as a pressman in the Twin Cities area for Martin Pardany Printing and then Nordic Press retiring in 1989. He enjoyed his volunteer work with the Salvation Army in St. Cloud & Florida. He also enjoyed fishing and working with wood making furniture for his family. He will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie of St. Cloud, 5 children Martha (Robert) Jarvey of Phoenix, AZ, Randy of Cologne, Wally (Jenifer) of Minnetonka, Sandy (Dale) Hesse of Chaska, James of Chaska, 3 adopted children Russell of Waconia, Vicki of Oklahoma City, OK, Thomas of Minneapolis, brother Laurel (Jean) of Texas, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. His brother Thomas preceded him in death.
