James R. Houchins, age 86, of Clearwater, died Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Annandale Care Center.

A private committal service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale in the spring of 2024.

James Robert Houchins was born in Annandale, Minnesota on April 20, 1937 to Earl and Mary (Winchell) Houchins. He married Marlene Samuelson and they later divorced. On July 17, 1978, he was united in marriage to Donna (Reznicek) Gordon in Millbank, SD. Jim worked construction and drove truck all his life. He loved cars and motorcycles and collected a lot of both over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Clearwater; children, Mark (Mary) Houchins of St. Louis, MO, Mary (Mory) Povitsky of Skokie, IL, and Jimmy Houchins Jr. (Jaimie) of Brainerd, MN; step-daughter, Lisa Welker of St. Cloud, MN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, John (Dar) Houchins of Squaw Lake, MN; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Houchins; brother, Tom Houchins; step-daughter, Debra Searcy; grandson, Adam Houchins; and step-granddaughter, Miranda Biedler.

A special thank you to the caring staff at the Annandale Care Center for the special care that they provided to Jim in his final days.
