Obituary

James "Jim" Gieselman, age 83, of Annandale, died Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home.

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held.

James Edward Gieselman was born at home on January 11, 1943, in Herman, Minnesota, to Francis and Josephine (Schreader) Gieselman. He lost his mother at the age of 8, an early loss that influenced his character throughout his life. His journey through life included time in the United States Army, serving until his discharge in 1965. In the years that followed, he found love and partnership with Fern Oesterich, whom he married on August 19, 1967, in Hopkins, Minnesota. Together, they created a loving home, initially in Bloomington before settling in the Annandale area in 1977.

In 1972, Jim fulfilled his dream of owning his own business by founding Ace Auto Upholstery, a business he took great pride in. His passion fueled his skill and attention to detail, and he became known far and wide for the quality of his work. A true car enthusiast, Jim had a particular fondness for antique cars, especially Studebaker's, and was a longtime member of the North Star Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club.

Jim was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. He found great joy in family gatherings and celebrating life's special moments, especially when his grandchildren were involved. A man of strong faith, he lived his life with Christ at the center, a value he shared with his family--including his simple and lasting advice to always keep Christ at the center of a marriage. He also enjoyed the constant companionship of his beloved dog, Cookie.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Fern; children, Matthew of Annandale, Andi (Mike) Bobick of St. Cloud, Laura (Tim) Evanson of Maple Grove, Paula (Eric) Lien of Shoreview, and Pam of Spring Lake Park; six grandchildren Jack, Charlie, Bryce, Blake, Ruby, and Cullen; siblings, Doris Gieselman of Rochester, Frank of Smithville, MO, and Darline (John) Wojtalewicz of Breckenridge, MN; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe, and sister-in-law, Jeanne Gieselman

Jim's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
