Jacob W. Hoikka, age 91, of Annandale died August 16, 2002 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m., August 20, 2002 at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church, Cokato with Rev. William Keranen officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery, French Lake Twonship, Wright County.
Jacob Walter Hoikka was born February 27, 1911 in Albion Township, Wright County to Jacob and Eder Lunthina (Wanda) Hoikka. He married Alice E. Nelson on July 11, 1942 in Cokato and they farmed near Annandale many years. He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Annandale School Board. He enjoyed reading, singing, hunting, and fishing.
Jake is survived by sons, Jerry (Patsy) Hoikka of Hutchinson, Lester (Cynthia Kurkowski) Hoikka of Annandale; daughter, Carol (Ron) Walker of Custer, SD; eight grandchildren & their spouses, Kristen (Scott) Pritchard, Susan (Brent) Wagner, Brad (Sarah) Hoikka, Stephanie Hoikka, Adam Walker, Ethan Walker, Anna Walker, Travis Kurkowski; four great grandchildren, Julia and Elise Pritchard, Jacob and Joshua Wagner. He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph & John; sisters, Ida Kay & Anna Koikka; and foster sister, Lydia Kahilainen.
The pallbearers were grandchildren and their spouses. The organist for the funeral was Diane Grangroth.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale, Minnesota.
