Obituary

Mr. Jack W. Matheny, age 72, of Annandale died Friday, January 16, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Rev. Victor Valencia officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There will be a rosary and prayer service 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel in Annandale. A rosary will be recited before the funeral on Thursday at the church.

Jack Warren Matheny was born October 7, 1931 in Minneapolis to Clayton and Olive (Grilley) Matheny. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1951. Jack served in the U. S. Navy from 1952-1956. He married Regina C. Stadler June 22, 1957 in Topeka, KS. He was employed by the Hennepin County Highway Department from 1956-1963. From 1963-1975 he worked for various contractors including Barton Contracting, Minneapolis and C.S. McCrossan, Osseo. Jack started Matheny Construction in 1975 and operated it until retiring in 1986. He moved to the Annandale area in 1968 where he was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a member of the Clearwater American Legion Post #323. Jack loved his wife, family, hunting, and fishing.

Jack is survived by his wife, Gina of Annandale; sons and daughters, Michael (Margie) of Byron, CA, Mary (Randy) Lefebvre of Annandale, Jean (Craig) Stolpestad of Monticello, Renee (Mike) Miller of Watkins, Germaine (Brian) Peterson of Forest Lake, Jack (Deanne) of Mesa, AZ, Martin of South Haven, Paul (Hiroko) of Saratoga Springs, NY, sisters, Arlene Dean of Genoa City, WI, Marilyn Zappia of Roseville, Nancy Abrahamson of Minneapolis; and 20 grandchildren. His parents and brother, Robert preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matthew & Joshua Matheny, Adam & Andrew Stolpestad, & Martin Lefebvre, nephews, Joe & Doug Abrahamson. Music for the funeral provided by Dureen Gasser and Ann Medley.
