Ida L. Kersten, age 90, of South Haven died Monday, October 4, 2004 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, South Haven. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Robert Gehrke officiating. Memorials are preferred.
Ida Luella Kersten was born August 27, 1914 in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County to August and Bertha (Habke) Gehrke. She married Ernest G. Kersten September 23, 1939 in Iowa and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1992. Ida lived her lifetime in the Fair Haven and South Haven area where she was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women`s Missionary League. She was a former 4-H leader and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, traveling, and nature.
She is survived by her three children & their spouses, Douglas & Dorothy Kersten of South Haven, Ardis & James Hollermann of Princeton, Charles & Laurie Kersten of South Haven; brother, August Gehrke & his wife, Vi of Apple Valley; sister in law, Alida Gehrke of Sauk Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Deb Kersten Pannhoff of Robbinsdale, Captain Daniel Kersten, DDS of Ramstein, Germany, Sarah Hollermann of Hopkins, Jared Hollermann of Fargo, Emily Workman of Clear Lake, Tiffany Kersten of South Haven; 2 great grandchildren, Eli Workman and Olivia Kersten. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Henry, Fritz, & Ludwig; sisters, Bertha Thies, & Alma Bragelman; also by an infant brother, Richard.
