H. Jerry Rice, age 77, of Watkins died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 at Ostmark Lutheran Church, Watkins with Rev. Joe Midthun.  Burial will follow at Ostmark Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Hugh Gerald Rice was born October 14, 1936 at home in rural Watkins to Clarence and Alice Sinnie (Gulso) Rice.  He graduated with the Class of 1954 from Kimball High School.  Jerry served his county in the US Army; he was stationed in Germany.  On August 18, 1962, he was united in marriage to Delores Marlene Dahlgren at Ostmark Lutheran Church.  Together, Jerry & Delores raised their family on the farm that they owned and operated.  He also worked for many years as the outdoor manager at Powder Ridge Ski Area in Kimball.  Jerry enjoyed farming, entertaining, cooking & grilling, visiting with family & friends, coaching his kids' youth sports, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family.  He considered his farm and family as his greatest accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife Delores; sons & their spouses Steve & Carla of St. Michael and Jamie & Meredith of St. Louis Park; grandchildren Elijah, Ethan, Nelson and Wilson; and brother & his wife Gene & Jan of Kimball.  He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence & Sinnie; brother George; and sister Clarice Kruger.
