Henry J. Janey, age 85 of South Haven, formerly of Minneapolis, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Kimball. Rev. Thomas Olson will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Garden, Minneapolis. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the services, Saturday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Henry Jerome Janey was born November 29, 1923 in Little Falls to Steven and Mary (Kedrowski) Janey. He married Jeanette Gorka on June 3, 1953 in Sobieski. He worked as a grain miller for 35 years at General Mills in Minneapolis, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball and a former member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Minneapolis. He enjoyed fishing, and keeping up his plants, flowers and yard. He kept busy with his six children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette of South Haven; children, Ken (Juliane) of Afton, Marie "C.J." of Annandale, Steve (Becky) of Richfield, Mike (Karen) of Bloomington, Diane of Minneapolis and Pat (Beth) of West Lakeland; sister, Bernice (Bill) Szczublewski of Sobieski; 8 grandchildren, Lauren, Tom, Alisa, Chad, Chelsea, Nick, Abby and Ethan; and great grandchild, Joey. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara and Sadie; and two infant brothers.
Pallbearers will be Lauren, Tom, Alisa, Chad and Nick Janey and Chelsea Becker. Frosty Schiefelbein, organist and St. Anne Choir will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
