Helen M. Jensen, age 85 of Starbuck, formerly of Kimball, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kimball with Rev. David Milz officiating. Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service, Friday at the church. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Helen Mildred Jensen was born December 10, 1925 in Braddock, ND to Oscar and Irene (Wade) Nordstrom. Helen's family lived in Braddock until they moved to a farm in Boise, ID. After Helen's father's death, the family continued to farm for one more year before moving to Kimball in 1940.
Helen was united in marriage to Marvin Jensen on October 12, 1944. They farmed between Kimball and South Haven. Helen worked as a cook at Maddens Nursing Home prior to working at Fingerhut. She retired after 27 years of work for Gannon's Elevator. Helen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball and was part of the St. John's Quilters group. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, sewing and walking around Kimball.
She is survived by her two sons, David & Janet, of Starbuck and Dan & Marlene of Janesville; sister, Sylvia Watkins; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Strom, Dorothy Jensen, and Hazel Brown; six grandchildren, Matthew (Amy Littel), Michael (Melissa), Michelle (Christina Land), Kari, Kyle (fiancé, Liv Anderson) and Steven (Tammy); and 10 great grandchildren, Thomas, Anna, Emma, Curran, Savannah, Emmalee, Olivia, Ella, Bethany and Collin. She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin; brothers, Glen and Bill; and sisters, Dorothy Pramann and Faye Howe.
Casket bearers will be Matthew, Michael, Michelle, Kari, Kyle and Steven Jensen. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
