Helen M. Kangas, age 96 of Annandale, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Annandale Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Tom Heyd officiating.  Committal services will be 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Assembly Area 6.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Tuesday, at the church.

Helen Myrtle Kangas was born February 18, 1919 in Annandale to Charles and Elvira (Levine) Leinonen.  She grew up in French Lake.  On October 7, 1943, Helen was united in marriage to Arthur Kangas in Minneapolis.  They resided in Minneapolis prior to moving to their Lake John home near Annandale.  Helen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.  She worked form many years for Annandale High School in the kitchen.  She was a caregiver not only to her family, but to many friends as well.  Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, her dogs and caring for others.

She is survived by her children Richard Kangas of Glenwood, Karen (David) Smith of Burnsville, John (Karen) Kangas of St. Charles, Illinois and Steven (Lani) Kangas of Woodbury; and four grandchildren Jessica, Michael, Jack and Joseph Kangas.  She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Elvira Leinonen; husband Arthur Kangas; sisters Hannah Pertela, Hazel Brown, Beatrice Lehtola and Mary Miller; and brothers Walter, Howard and Arnold Leinonen.

Pallbearers will be Richard, John, Steven, Michael, Jack and Joseph Kangas.  Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service.  Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service.  Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale, Minnesota.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
