Helen J. (Hannula) Helmerick, age 97, of Annandale died Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Annandale Care Center.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday with Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to Thomas House, 701 3rd Ave SW, Perham, MN 56573.
Helen Juliette Hannula Helmerick was born April 13, 1910 in Kingston Township, Meeker County to Joseph and Julia (Hendrickson) Widlund. She married Edwin A. Hannula on November 28, 1929 and he died on May 6, 1955. She married William O. Helmerick on February 6, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 24, 1986. Helen was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Helen treasured her family and friends, she raised 3 sons with her husband Ed, owned & operated Hannula Shoe Store in South Minneapolis and enjoyed being in politics. Helen & Bill enjoyed the many trips they took together, wintering in Arizona and living on Clearwater Lake.
She is survived by sons, Bradley (Roslyn) Hannula of Annandale, John (Ginny) Hannula of Annandale; daughter, Gloria Schultz of Ramsey; daughter in law, Kathy Hannula of Moorhead; sister, Phyllis (Vernon) Anderson of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Lynn, Lisa, Lori, Derek, Heidi, Chad, Lynda, & Dianne; many great grandchildren; also several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death her first husband Edwin Hannula, second husband William Helmerick, son Brian, son in law Howard Schultz, sister Doris Holt, and brother Clifford.
The music for the service will be provided by Orma Lou Jacobsma, organist and Bev Sorensen, soloist. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
