Hazel V. Paumen, age 94, of Annandale formerly of Maple Lake, died Sunday, March 16, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Fr. Michael Izen and Fr. Jacob Yali will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Chatham Township. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday and a Rosary service at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Hazel Virginia Paumen was born December 6, 1913 in Waverly to Phineas and Lydia (Demarais) Gagnon. She graduated from St. Mary's Parochial School, Waverly in 1932 and worked at the Waverly Grocery & Dry Goods Store. Hazel married Wilfred Paumen on June 19, 1935 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly by Fr. Morgan and Fr. O'Brien; he preceded her in death on February 28, 2004. She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake, the Council of Catholic Women and a fifty year member of the Lady Foresters. Hazel enjoyed horses, playing cards, dancing, quilting and spending time with family. In recent years she has enjoyed Bingo, Dominos and bowling.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Frank (Pat) of Fargo, ND, Ed (Nan) of Maple Lake, Mike (Beth) of Lake Crystal and Chuck (Carol) of Maple Lake; daughters, Judith (Gene) Post of Clearwater and Katherine Fagerness of Hudson, WI; sister, Sister Ancelle Gagnon, O.S.J. of St. Paul; brother, Martin Gagnon of Moorestown, NJ; 21 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Loretta Wagner, Myrtle Coyea, Marge Cavanaugh and Gertrude Peterson; and brothers, Thomas and Lawrence 'Pete' Gagnon.
Pallbearers will be Frank, Ed, Mike and Chuck Paumen, Gene Post and Tony Fagerness. Music for the service will be provided by Marge Pavlik, organist, Resurrection Choir, St. Luke's Choir and the Praise Company. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
