Obituary

Mr. Harvey L. Ruona, age 91, of Maple Lake died Friday, August 8, 2003 at Park View Care Center, Buffalo, MN.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2003 at Our Savior`s Lutheran Church, Chokio, MN with Rev. Steven King officiating. Burial will follow in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.

Harvey LeRoy Ruona was born August 5, 1912 in Franklin, MN to Hjalmer and Minnie (Pajari) Ruona. On November 26, 1938 he married Irene M. Ehlers in Esterville, IA. He attended Western College of Auctioneering, Billings, MT and did some auctioneering. Harvey and Irene farmed in Franklin before moving to Chokio where they farmed until 1967. They moved to Morris, MN where Harvey worked for ASCS as a County Committeeman and the Morris Public School District. He has lived in Maple Lake, MN for the past 10 years where he was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was a former member and past president of Our Savior`s Lutheran Church, Chokio. In his early years Harvey was an avid baseball player and than umpired for many years. Harvey loved his family, church, playing baseball, watching the Minnesota Twins, playing cards, dancing, and Sunday afternoon drives to look at the crops and livestock.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Irene of Maple Lake, sons and daughters, Sandra (Jack) Trump of St. Louis Park, Russell (Anne) of Bloomington, Cindy (Larry) Webster of Burnsville, Margaret `Peggy` (Don) Murphy of Woodscross, UT, Linda of Maple Lake, Harvey `Tim` of Burnsville; brother, Wayne of Detroit Lakes; daughter in law, Mary Jovanivich of Billings, MT; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lydia; son, LeRoy; brothers, George, Virgil, Gordon, Floyd, and Peter; sisters, Ruby Short and Florice Ruona.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott & Lee Roy Ruona, Bruce & Donald Murphy, Mark Trump, Jeffrey Ruona, Matthew & Christopher Ruona. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Paulson, Robert Wade, Richard Howe, John Baker, Paul Gillespie, and William Schott.

Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake, MN.
