Obituary

Harris V. Nelson, age 94, formerly of South Haven died Friday, January 9, 2009 at Volunteers of America Assisted Living in Minnetonka where he has resided the past five years.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with Funeral services held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Lake Union Covenant Church, South Haven with Rev. Lloyd Melvie officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Union Cemetery.

Harris Victor Nelson was born January 10, 1914 at South Haven to Nels and Betsy (Dahlberg) Nelson. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and worked on construction in the Twin Cities where he lived from 1945-1975. Harris was a member of Minneapolis Labor Union.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Harvey; brothers, Clifford, Henry, Leny, Delbert & Lloyd; and sisters, Elvera Olson, Evelyn Schmidt, Alice Nelson, Edna Johnson & Mildred DeFries. Many nieces and nephews survive him.

The pallbearers will be Ray Nelson, Lloyd Olson, John Maurer, Donald Yerks, Maris Groveander and Roy Tomala. Marleigh Rumsey will provide the music for the service and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
