Harriet K. Ledwein, age 92, of Annandale died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Rev. Victor Valencia officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials are preferred to Annandale Health and Community Services.
Harriet Kathryn Ledwein was born January 18, 1920 to Robert and Esther (Hammerer) Thomas in Minneapolis and she grew up in Columbia Heights. She married Donald Charles Knutson in 1936 and he died in 1945 during WW II. She married Franklin John Ledwein on March 16, 1948 and he died on March 6, 1983. She was a homemaker, owned & operated Richardson's Root Beer Drive Inn, and assisted her husband with Frank's Bait Shop & Ledwein Wholesale Bait. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, bowling & traveling.
She is survived by her children Donald Knutson of Brooklyn MI, James (Janet) Knutson of Brooklyn, MI, Barb (Wes) Wiegand of Annandale, step children Jack (JoAnn) Ledwein, Jim (Jean) Ledwein, Bill, Kathy (Bob) Smith, all of Annandale, brother Ronald (Nancy) Thomas of Minneapolis, 27 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, son Thomas Knutson, step daughter Pat Kittok, daughter in law Margaret Knutson, brothers George & Robert, sister Mary, and 2 grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Dan & Tim Ledwein, Tom & Topio Knutson, Brett Boltz, and Jim Vance. The honorary pallbearers will be Matt Ledwein, Donnie Knutson and other grandchildren. The music for the service will be provided by Catherine Knutson, soloist and the St. Ignatius Music Ministry. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
