Gregory John Fries of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died December 14, 2024, at the age of 72, after a long battle with emphysema.

He was an employee of the Minneapolis Park Board holding several different jobs throughout the changing of the seasons. He ended his career serving as the gardener of the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens until he retired in 2006.

Survived by son, Jesse Holscher of Minneapolis; brother, Douglas Fries (Gwen Nelson) of Maple Lake, MN; sister, Diane (James) Ullmann of Graham, WA; and nephews, Austin (Marnie) Ullmann of Sykesville, MD and Casey Ullmann of Washington D.C. He was an avid reader, loved birds, and the Minnesota sunshine.

By request, no funeral will take place. Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
