Glenice L. Schmidt, age 94, of Annandale died Friday, August 13, 2021 at her daughter's home with her family at her side. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake with Pastor Marc Well Nagel officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Albion Township. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Bethlehem U.C.C. Memorial Fund. Services will be live streamed on the funeral home's website. Glenice Lenore Johnson was born February 5, 1927 in Minneapolis, the first born daughter of Edwin and Agnes (Benson) Johnson. She grew up on the family farm near the north shore of Lake Henry. Glenice was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Albion Township. She graduated from Annandale High School with the Class of 1945. Following her graduation, she worked as a nurse's aide and later as an elevator operator at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. On September 20, 1947, Glenice was united in marriage to Melvin Schmidt at her childhood church of Mt. Hermon. They were blessed with four children. Melvin and Glenice were married for sixty-three years until Melvin died in 2010. Glenice was an active member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ where she sang with the church choir and participated in various Women's Guild activities. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, cooking and baking, and tending to her garden. She will be remembered for her love and care for her family. Glenice is survived by her children, Nancy (Steven) Steinleitner of Annandale, Jane (Joe) Zweber of Eden Prairie, David (Mary) Schmidt of Annandale and Lori (Tom) Fisher of Raleigh, NC; six granddaughters, Amy (Jason) Buccek, Kari (Ryan) Palmer, Ann (Yago Estrada) Zweber, Heidi (Adam) Caputo, Beth Steinleitner and Kate Fisher; eight great-grandchildren, Stone, Calvin, and Roger Caputo, Evan and Nora Palmer and, Marco, Axel, and Elise Estrada Zweber; and sister and brothers, Lois Weyh of Plymouth, Eldon (Yvonne) Johnson of Austin, TX and George (Leslye) Johnson of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Agnes Johnson; husband, Melvin Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Douglas Weyh. Glenice's granddaughters will serve as casket bearers. Nancy Stauffer, David Schmidt, and Heidi Caputo will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
