Gideon M. Shir, age 2 weeks and 5 days, died Saturday, June 26, 2021 at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021 at North Corinna Cemetery, near Annandale with Pastor David Watkins officiating. Attendees are invited to bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Gideon Matthias Shir was born June 6, 2021 at 5:45 a.m. to Matthias and Jemina (Lidberg) Shir. As a blessing from God, he lovingly grew in his mother's womb for 23 weeks before being born prematurely enroute to the hospital. Gideon's expected date of arrival was October 3, 2021. At the time of his birth, he weighed 1 lb. 9.4 ounces and was 12.2 inches long. Gideon filled his family's hearts with joy as he lived as a mighty man of valour. On Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 12:40 a.m., Gideon took his last breath in the tender embrace of his parents' arms. Gideon is survived by his parents, Matthias and Jemina Shir of Pine City; adoring siblings, Elaia, Zemirah, and Lydia Shir; grandparents, Marklan and Carla Shir and Joel and Julie Lidberg; great-grandparents, Martin Shir and Paul and Carol Sahlstrom; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Alice Shir, Arvilla and Clarence Lidberg, and Francis and Patricia Vetsch.
