Gerald `Jerry` Almgren, age 69, of 300 Linden Ave. E., Kimball, formerly of Fosston, died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at St. John`s Lutheran Church, Kimball with Rev. Dave Milz officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Gerald Dale Almgren was born August 9, 1934 at Litchfield to Lars and Hedvig (Jackson) Almgren. He married Mona Mackereth on January 22, 1955 in Kimball. He farmed near Kimball and then from 1981-2002 he was a rancher in the Fosston area. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and Kingo Lutheran Church, Fosston where he was a former Deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, breeding and raising horses, and his life as a cowboy.
He is survived by his wife, Mona of Kimball; children, Gerri Lynn McWherter & her husband Ron of Dassel, Mark of Watkins, Chad & his wife, Cindy of Kimball; 4 grandchildren, Dillon McWherter, Jerry, Jessica, & Josh Almgren; sisters, Carol Roberts of Topeka, KS, Mary Ann Nesseth of Livonia, MI, Betty Lou Peterson & her husband, Dick of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by brothers & sisters, Carl, Vera Swanson, Fred, Lucille Jurgens, Walter, Dorothy McDonald, Robert, and Joan Ohlin.
The pallbearers will be Lyndon VanVleet, Tony Maruska, Steve Watne, Bill Wilson, Doug Fjerstad, and Ellsworth Danielson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Jerry`s family and friends.
