Mr. Gerald V. Alama, age 66, of Cokato, formerly Annandale died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at Meeker County Memorial Hospital, Litchfield.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, French Lake with Rev. Edward Groop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Gerald Vernon Alama was born February 1, 1938 in Annandale to Frank & Esther (Rissell) Alama. He served his country from 1955-1959 in the U.S. Marines. In May of 1959 he married JoAnn Ross in Minneapolis and the couple divorced in 1971. Gerald lived in Minneapolis where he worked construction and later as a cab driver. He lived in Buffalo before moving to Cokato in 2002.
Gerald is survived by daughters, JoAnn (Mike) Laughlin of Columbia Heights, and Debra (Paul) Kalugow of St. Paul; brother, Melvin (Eva) of Annandale; sisters, Catherine Durket of Cleveland, OH, Anita (Arne) Selin of Minneapolis, Audrey Selin of Minneapolis, Hazel Barnard of Lake City, Marlene (Wes) Johnson of Eden Prairie, and Eleanor Thompson of Plymouth; 3 grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard & Leonard; sister, Shirley Bajari; nephew, Mark Alama; and very good friend, Connie Day.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, Donald Norberg, Michael Pyle, Colin & Pat Alama, and Allen Bajari. Music for the funeral provided by Cheree Johnson, and Verna Kyllonen.
