Obituary
Mr. George L. Herbst, age 97, of Columbia Heights died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the St. Anthony Health Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Pastor Pat Moe officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
George Leonard Herbst was born June 8, 1907 at South Haven to George A. and Julia Herbst. He married Clara E. Johnson in April of 1927 and she preceded him in death in July of 1986. He was employed by the Soo Line Railroad for 50 years retiring as a Section Foreman. George enjoyed the railroad, snowmobiling, dancing, and yard work.
He is survived by children & their spouses, George (Bucky) & Patricia Herbst of McGregor, Lois & Glen Geisinger of New Brighton; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; daughter, Violet Storvick; and sisters, Vivian, Cecelia, Tootsie, and Goldie.
