Mr. George L. Andrews, age 80, of South Haven died Wednesday, May 26, 2003 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, 1230 Hwy 23 SE, St. Cloud with Rev. Art Cotant officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clearwater. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
On March 18, 1924, George was born to Clifford and Carol (Ackley) Andrews at the Bass Lake farm, Corinna Township, Wright County where he was raised and lived his entire lifetime. He married Barbara S. Smith on March 10, 1951 in St. Cloud. He farmed and then was a cement contractor for many years. George served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed reading and studying about the State of Alaska.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of South Haven; sons and daughters, David and his wife Mary of South Haven, Joseph of Annandale, Mary Christopherson and her husband Paul of Omaha, Nebraska, Kent of Annandale, Cindy Schlichtling and her husband Karl of Inver Grove Heights, Margaret Birkholz of Madison, Wisconsin; sister, Jo Ann Krantz and her husband William of South St. Paul; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His daughter in law Kimberly Andrews and brother Kent preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be David, Kent, Joseph, Robert, & Mikel Andrews, Karl Schlichtling, and Paul Christopherson.
