Obituary

Gary A. Yanish, age 52, of Backus died Monday, August 13, 2007 at his residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Izen officiating and burial following at 1:00 p.m. in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Friends may call from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.

Gary Allen Yanish was born May 2, 1955 in Minneapolis to Albert and Joan (Schloeder) Yanish. He graduated from Delano High School in 1973 and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Gary was an automobile mechanic and block layer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and working on cars.

He is survived by daughters, Heather of Buffalo, Melonie of St. Cloud, Misty of St. Cloud; son, Martin of Pelican Rapids; 2 grandchildren, Summer & Wyatt; parents, Albert & Joan Yanish of Maple Lake; sisters, Cathy (Kim) Albright of Burnsville, Lori Payne of Maple Lake; and brother, Thomas (Jill) Yanish of Hillman. An infant son, Shawn preceded him in death.

The pallbearers will be Christopher Kass, Daniel Yanish, Kyle & Karsten Payne, Bryan & Kim Albright. The music for the service will be provided by St. Timothy`s Resurrection Choir with Marge Pavlik, organist. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
