Obituary
Mr. Gaines T. 'Buzz' Scherma, age 70, of South Haven died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2005 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. David Doppenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Hillman. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral.
Gaines Thomas 'Buzz' Scherma was born January 5, 1935 in Mobile, AL to Gaines & Evelyn (Lavinghouse) Scherma. He served his Country from 1953-1957 in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gaines married Georgene E. Miels February 18, 1957 and the couple later divorced. He was a superintendent in the sewer & water construction business. Gaines lived in Mounds View, White Bear Lake, and Hillman before moving to South Haven in 1990. He was a kind and loving man who adored his children and grandchildren. Buzz had a unique sense of humor fostered by his relentless passion to tease.
Gaines is survived by his children and their spouses, Carol Roquette and friend, Daryl of Hutchinson, Roger of South Haven, Lynn (Kenny) Peterson of Little Falls, and Laura (Jon) Miller of Big Lake. Gaines dearly loved his 10 grandchildren, Amy (Erik) Madson, Jake Roquette, Shane & Brett Peterson, Tyler, Garret & Colton Handeland, Hannah, Mason, & Logan Miller; sisters, Ann Black of Katy, TX and Denni (Gene) Hallock of Cleveland, MN; nieces, Tracey (Danny) Kaiser and Heidi (Tom) Justin; nephews, Mark Black, Brian (Sharon) Black, Kevin Black, and Clint (Lisa) Black, Wayne 'JR' (Sandy) Harrison, and Jason Harrison; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and niece, Heather Harrison.
Pallbearers will be Jake Roquette, Shane & Brett Peterson, Tyler, Garret, & Colton Handeland, and Mason Miller.
