Evalyn M. Skawski, age 98 of Maple Lake, formerly of Cambridge died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Silver Creek Community Church with Rev. Tim Overweg officiating. Burial will be in the Isanti Community Cemetery, Isanti at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Evalyn Madiline Skawski was born January 2, 1910 in Dodge Center to Frank and Louise (Haughtaling) Schuh. She was baptized in the Zumbro River and confirmed at age 12 in the Seventh Day Baptist Church. She married Frank Skawski on November 26, 1938 in Decorah, IA and he preceded her in death in 1991. Evalyn graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1929 and from St. Barnabas Nursing School in 1933. She worked as a registered nurse at the South Haven Nursing Home, St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis, the newborn nursery at North Memorial Hospital in Robinsdale, and in private duty nursing. Evalyn enjoyed fishing, nursing, needle working, reading, gardening and spending time in the outdoors.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Shirley) of Cambridge; daughters, Sandra (Larry) Johnson of Cologne and Francine (Eugene) Smith of Maple Lake; step-daughter, Carol Brose of Robinsdale; brother, John (Joyce) Schuh of Robinsdale; sister, Josephine Brehmer of Woodland, CA; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Evalyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Robert Skawski, Jr.; great granddaughter, Isabelle Madelyn Smith; brothers, Edward Schuh and Fran Schuh; sister's-in-law, Marge Schuh and Audrey Schuh; and brother-in-law, Al Brehmer.

Pallbearers will be Adam and Aaron Johnson, David Smith, Jim, Josh and Cory Lentz. Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Lentz, Rebecca Smith, Karen Grell and Angie Johnson. Orma Lou Jacobsma and Gene VanAlstine will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
