Eva Joan Sanken, age 67, of South Haven died Friday, January 9, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. with Memorial Services held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. DJ Lura officiating. Memorials are preferred to the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Eva Joan has graciously donated her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.
Eva Joan Sanken was born November 3, 1941 at Cokato to John and Elvira (Peterson) Carlson. In 1959 she graduated from Dassel High School and in 1964 graduated from St. Cloud State University. She married Robert Sanken on August 13, 1966. She has lived in South Haven the past 5 years, previously living in Chaska where she was an elementary teacher for 32 years. Joan previously taught in Princeton, Minnetonka, and Hanover Park, IL. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, played the piano at the Annandale Care Center, and supported the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. She enjoyed music and family, especially her grandchildren. She always promoted humanitarian and environmental issues.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of South Haven; daughter, Nikki Sanken (Rob Small) of Buffalo; grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary, Carson & Sophie; also many nieces, nephews and friends. Her parents and sister Gerda Ann Jacobson preceded her in death.
