Eugene Ernest Fouquette, age 77, of 8392 County Road 8 NW, Maple Lake past away Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2006 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Chatham Township and a reception at Maple Lake Legion Club. Family and friends may call between 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 6th and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, 108 Oak Avenue N., Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday.

Eugene Ernest Fouquette was born June 18, 1929 in Monticello to Ignatius and Dorothy (Pertler) Fouquette. He married Kathryn Mae Steffens on October 29, 1949 in St. Michael. He was a member of St. Timothy`s Church and Fr. O`Brien Council Knights of Columbus #3613. Eugene cherished spending time with his children, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eugene farmed for 57 years and enjoyed harvesting the crops, especially late at night under the stars with the wildlife. He loved playing cards and enjoyed baseball, amateur wrestling, westerns and history. Eugene was a self-educated man, whose strength and determination inspired us all.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy (Fouquette) Dahlheimer of Buffalo; sisters Lois Bayless of Kennewick WA, and Patricia Tigges and her husband Richard of St. Johns AZ; fourteen children & their spouses, Richard of Maple Lake, Michael of Maple Lake, Daniel and Christine of Maple Lake; Coleen Fouquette-Folkerts of St. Louis Park, Linda and James Wannebo of Motley, Cindy Gordon of Moorhead, Thomas and Joanie of Erhard, Robert & Kerri of Erhard, David and Heidi of Detroit Lakes, Barbara of Cromwell CT, Kathryn and Keith Odden of Clear Lake, Jeff and Laura of Dassel, Peter of South Haven, Aimee and Harry Slaughter Jr. of Elizabeth City SC; 37 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn Mae (Steffens) Fouquette, father Ignatius Fouquette, step-father Matt Dahlheimer, daughter-in-law Trela (Bohn) Fouquette, and granddaughter Jessica Rae Fouquette.

The pallbearers will be two of his sons, Jeff and Peter, and grandchildren. The music for the service will be provided by Krista Tarbox and Sarah Goelz. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
