Eugene "Gene" B. Boggs, age 81 of Kimball died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Fairhaven Christian Church, Fairhaven. Pastor Ken Smith will officiate. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. A prayer service and will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Gene Boggs was born June 1, 1928 to Bernard and Emma (Mansicka) Boggs at his home in Kimball. He graduated from Kimball High School, Class of 1946. For over 20 years Gene and his family owned and operated Ella's Cafe on the Main Street of Kimball. He then worked as a Refrigeration and Appliance Repair Technician until his retirement. Gene served his Country in the United States Army. On June 2, 1947 he was united in marriage to Helen Tufts in Webster, SD. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1993. Gene married Julianne Marie Hansen on August 6, 1996 in Milbank, SD. Gene was active in the Fairhaven Christian Church. He was a sports enthusiast and outdoorsman. He enjoyed his walks in the woods, feeding the deer and turkeys. He was a gifted artist, enjoying painting, sketching and woodworking. Gene loved to share his love for Jesus and spending time reading the Bible. His greatest enjoyment in life was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Julianne of Kimball; children, Patti (Brian) Johnson of Monticello, Debbie (Mickey) Brower of Corcoran, Jill (Danny) Pena of Victoria, Texas, Dan of Buyck, MN, Rich (Bobbi) Lassen Jr. of Spring Lake Park, and Tracey (Terry) Harmon of Nowthen, MN; 24 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Gloria (Bruce) Dalbec of Crosslake, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; parents, Bernard and Emma; and brothers, Richard and Donald.
His grand daughter, Kelly & her husband, David Gassler will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
