Ernold R. Walberg, age 80, of Ottertail died Friday, February 18, 2011 at the VA Medical Center, Fargo.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, French Lake with Rev. Edward Groop officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, French Lake Township, Wright County. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 4 p.m. Sunday.

Ernold Ray Walberg was born December 9, 1930 in French Lake Township to Gust and Amanda (Opsahl) Walberg. He served his Country as a member of the U.S. Army and married Irene Rittenour Petersen on June 23, 1962 in Minneapolis.  Ernold lived in Minneapolis for 20 years while working at Grain Belt Brewery, then lived & worked as a carpenter in the Annandale area from 1976-1991; since then he has lived in Ottertail. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Irene of Ottertail, daughter Betty (Gary) Hinkle of Portland, OR, 2 step sons Gary (Jeanette) Petersen of Brainerd, Tony (Valarie) Petersen of Watkins, 2 step grandchildren Andrea (Carl) Griffin of Big Timber, MT, Thomas (Melissa) Petersen of Bozeman, MT, 2 step great grandchildren Sophie & Will Griffin, brothers Russell (Nola) of Annandale, Clifford of Annandale, sisters Gladys Peterson of Montrose, Arlene Buranen of Kimball, Elsie (Ed) Sund of Silverdale, WA, Pearl (Mark) Fobbe of Maple Lake; sister in law Patricia Walberg of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by brothers Milton, Alden & John and sisters Celeste Lang & Bernice Johnson.

The pallbearers will be Marvin, Darrell & Mike Walberg, Floyd & Duane Johnson, and Marvin Stene, Jr. The organist will be Margaret Groop and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
