Ernest F. Ecker, age 91, of Kimball died Monday, February 7, 2011 at Heritage House, Kimball.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Rev. Luke C. Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, South Haven. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Zion United Methodist Church. The pallbearers will be the seven grandchildren.
Ernest Frank Ecker was born June 8, 1919 in Kingston Township, Meeker County to Frank and Emma (Stienberg) Ecker. He married Ruth Esther Leppa on October 27, 1945 in Minneapolis. He was a 1937 graduate of Litchfield High School and for 47 years farmed south of Kimball retiring in 1984. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and a former member of the Kimball School Board & Kingston Creamery Board. He enjoyed farming, old tractors, and his pets, friends, family & grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Kimball, children Karen Lawson of France, Randy of Maple Grove, Robert of Estes Park, CO, Richard (Dory) of Kimball, sister Maymie Ecker of Kimball, sister in law Veronica Ecker of New Munich, 7 grandchildren Sarah Jorgenson, Rachael Walker, Jeremy Ecker, Emily, Andy, Elissa & Alison Ecker, 6 great grandchildren Zach, Brynne, Wilson, Claudia , Dominic & Ella Mae; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by infant brother Clarence, brother Elmer, and sister Lil Leppa.
