Elwyn O. Nordberg, age 84, of South Haven died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at his residence on Lake Sylvia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Annandale United Methodist Church with Rev. Marilee Benson and Rev. Heather E. Klason officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the Church.
Elwyn Orvis Nordberg was born April 30, 1924 in Southside Township, Wright County to Orvis T. and Flora E. (Kuhnley) Nordberg. He was a 1942 graduate of Annandale High School. He married Patricia M. Comstock on September 24, 1950 in St. Louis Park and she preceded him in death on March 20, 1989. He was a professional photographer, owning & operating Elwyn's Studio, Annandale. In his retirement years he has worked part-time at Kaz Hardware in Annandale. Elwyn was very active in our community; he was influential in securing the practices of Dr. Stiles & Dr. Wenngatz, and the beginning of the Annandale Care Center. He served on the board of directors of the Annandale Care Center and Buffalo Hospital. In 1988 he and his wife, Pat served as Grand Marshals of Annandale's Centennial 4th of July Parade. He was a lifetime member of the Annandale United Methodist Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent & Teacher and over 65 years as organist. He was a member of the Minnesota Photographers Association, Wright County Garden Club, and Annandale History Club.
He is survived by his three children & their spouses, Joel & Joan of Melrose, MA, Kristy & Dennis Rusch of Ashland, VA, Karl & Kay of South Haven; six grandchildren, Allison & Andrea Nordberg, Daniel & Brittney Rusch, Nathaniel & Becca Nordberg; sister Harriet Flygare of Annandale; brother, Calvin (Shirley) Nordberg of South Haven; and brother in law, Robert Moore of Fairmont. His wife Pat and sister Ardis Moore preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be James Loe, Russ Fortner, Don Nelson, John Bishop, Ed Kaz, Joe Kaz, Josh Carlson, and Wally Erickson. Mark & Ardis Nelson will provide the music for the service. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
