Obituary
Elnora J. Newman, age 87, of Double Springs, CA formerly of Los Angeles and Kimball died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Kit Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Jackson, CA.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Services held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball. Pastor Steve Rowland will officiate and burial will be at the Forest City Cemetery.
Elnora Jane Newman was born April 1, 1923 in Watkins, Minnesota to Arthur Gulso and Grace (Mayer) Gulso Magnuson. She married William Newman in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1965. Elnora served her country in the U.S. Army conducting tours of the Smithsonian Institute for dignitaries. She worked as a beautician for 45 years, owning and operating three beauty salons in the Los Angeles, CA area. She was a member of Rebekah's Lodge, enjoyed crafts, gardening, cats, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Newman of Double Springs, CA; sisters Vera Theisen of Annandale, Mavis Magnuson of Farmington; and brother, Irven Magnuson of Litchfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Grace; husband William; and brothers Wayne, Darrell & John Magnuson.
