Elaine Deloris "Dee" Curtis, age 77 of Kimball died, Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kimball. Rev. David Milz will officiate and burial will be in Maine Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to services, Friday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Elaine Deloris "Dee" Curtis was born May 28, 1929 to Arvid and Helga (Bloomquist) Hedin in Dahlton, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Rubin and Selma Erickson in Upsala, MN. Dee graduated from Upsala High School, and later from the Minneapolis Business College as a switchboard operator. She married Harold L. Hanson on October 25, 1952 in Mason City, Iowa and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1978. Elaine then married Darrel "Darby" Curtis on March 29, 1980 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball. She worked at the Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis, National Beauty Supply in Minneapolis, Hilltop Care Center in Watkins, and as an Avon Representative. Dee belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a trustee, organist, and past vice president of the LWML. She was also a member of the Good Shepherd Auxiliary in Sauk Rapids and past member of the St. Cloud Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. Dee enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and volunteering at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home and Hilltop Care Center as an organist. She also enjoyed giving presentations at area elementary schools about being blind and using Braille.

She is survived by her husband, Darby; daughter, Jody Hanson of St. Louis Park; step-daughter, Phyllis Hanson-Chinn of Dallas, TX; grandson, Scott (Brenda) Wandrei of Minnetrista; sisters and brothers, Hellen Pierce and John Hedin, both of Naicum, Sask, Canada, and Florence Hedin and Arvella (Lyle) Mitchell, all of Saskatoon, Sask, Canada. Her parents; husband, Harold; sisters, Marion Brown ad Elaine Engler; and brothers, Oliver Hedin and Walter Erickson preceded her in death.

The urnbearer will be Mark "Doc" Dockery. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
