Obituary
Eileen M. Kalway, age 85, of Maple Lake died Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Maple Lake with Rev. Peter Martinson officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis in Assembly Area One. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake and one hour prior to the service, Monday at the church. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Eileen Marie Kalway was born on February 8, 1926 at home in Linwood Township, Anoka County to Erwin and Florence (Nelson) Peterson. The family moved to a farm in Chisago City when Eileen was 2 months old. Growing up, she attended Sunday School, was a part of Luther League, and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. Eileen graduated with the Class of 1944 from Chisago City High School. On June 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Bernard Paul Kalway at Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City; they shared 56 years of marriage before he passed away on May 9, 2003. She enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts. Family and friends were very important to Eileen; she enjoyed all the activities that they did together.
She is survived by her four children Robert Kalway & fiancé Cheryl Enerson of Oakdale, Keith Kalway of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shirley Johnston and fiancé Scott Everson of Wyoming and Janet Wyman & husband Douglas of Cottage Grove; six grandchildren Richard, Karyn, Jennifer, Michelle, Peter and Kelsey; three great grandchildren Richard, Amanda and Dylan; brother Richard Peterson & wife Carol of Chisago City; sisters in law Ramona Peterson of Chisago City and Beatrice Peterson of Remer; and many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Johnston, Peter Wyman, Larry Louden, Dan Beckjorden, Doug Wyman, Scott Everson and Richard Johnston. Kelsey Wyman will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
