Obituary

Ed Schlink, age 89 of South Haven passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven. Pastor Luke C. Nelson will officiate and burial will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery, South Haven. Friends may call one hour prior to services, Wednesday at the church.
Edward Carl Schlink was born in Buffalo to Adolph and Mamie (May) Schlink on March 1, 1921 and lived in South Haven most of his life. He served his county in the Navy during WWII. He graduated from Annandale High School and went on to Hamline University, where he earned an engineering degree. He worked as a highway engineer for the State of Minnesota for his entire working career, retiring in 1980. Ed enjoyed many activities such as hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, baseball, smoking a cigar every so often and simply enjoying life. He is dearly loved by many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
He is survived by his nephews & niece, Bruce (Penney) Schlink of Plymouth, Gene (Linda) Schlink of Baileys Harbor, WI, Sue (Bob) Edel of Winona, Mark Schlink of South Haven and Mike Schlink of Lakeville; and many great nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Mamie, and brother, Maurice "Morrie".
Pallbearers will be Gene Schink, Mark Schlink, Mike Schlink, Michael Schlink, Scott Edel, Pete Tuomisto and Ray Welter. Barb Root will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
